Florence Leona Gephart

SHERMAN, IL - Florence Leona Gephart, 92, of Sherman, died Thursday, May 21, 2015, at St. John's Hospice.

Florence was born April 16, 1923, in Ashland, Ill., the daughter of Gordon Leroy and Maude "Mae" Daniel Smedley. She married James Gephart on Jan. 29, 1945, in Texas; he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2013.

She volunteered at various organizations and was an avid gardener. She was a past member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Riverton.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Gephart; and son-in-law, Larry Greischar.

She is survived by children: Mary Kay Gephart of Columbus, Wis., Bob (Linda) Gephart of Lincoln, Tom (Ellen) Gephart of Springfield, Dan Gephart of Austin, Texas, Art (Koki) Gephart of Mt. Vernon, Joe (Elizabeth) Gephart of Decatur, Dennis (Karon) Gephart of Springfield, Betty "Ann" Newton of Springfield, and Dr. Carol S. Gephart of Mt. Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church in Riverton with the Rev. Charles Hart OSF officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
