Ernest Dwight Ayers Sr., 83, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at his home.

Ernest was born September 9, 1937, in Tallula, the son of John and Oddie (Morrisson) Ayers. He enjoyed golfing, working outdoors and gambling.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Ayers; and a stepson, Ronald Spencer.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Wanda; sons, Gary, Jerry and Ernest Ayers, Jr.; one daughter Debbie Meyer; one brother, Robert Ayers and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A private family visitation will be held at Wilson Park Funeral Home.

Per Ernest's request, he will be cremated and buried at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.
