Erica Dyan Walls

KILLEEN, TX - Erica Dyan Walls (nee Shipman), 28, passed away at her home in Killeen, Texas, on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

Erica was born in Springfield, Ill., on Aug. 23, 1985, to John E. Shipman Jr. and September Shipman. She graduated from Lanphier High School in 2004; further pursuing her studies at Lincoln Land Community College; and ultimately enlisting in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Erica married Jonathon R. Walls on Dec. 22, 2011.

She is survived by her husband, Jonathon, and daughter, Jaylen of Killeen, Texas; son, John "Jay" Montgomery of Springfield; mother, September Shipman (Stan Kitchens) of Havana; sister, Andria J. Wentzel (Douglas) of Springfield; maternal grandmother, Nancy Meadows of Petersburg; paternal grandparents, John E. and Barbara Mohler Shipman Sr. of Springfield; stepmother, Tami J. Shipman of Springfield; mother-in-law, Theresa Walls of Waverly; father-in-law, Russell Walls of Waverly; two sisters-in-law, Toshya Beckman (Carson) of Sanford, Fla., and Tara DeWitt (Dane) of Thayer; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Shipman Jr.

Erica enjoyed fishing, shooting hoops, arts and crafts, and most importantly spending time with her children.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014, with funeral services to begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, all at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester, Ill. Burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery.
