PLEASANT PLAINS, IL - Emma "Jean" Kunze Buie, 71, of Pleasant Plains, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center.

Jean was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 26, 1944, to Elmer and Gladys Kunze.

She grew up in Warren County, Mo. On Aug. 28, 1966, she married Charles Ledrue Buie. They had three children. Jeanette Buie was born in 1971; Charlotte was born in 1973 and died shortly after her birth; and Benjamin Buie was born in 1974.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Charlotte.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Jeanette; son, Ben (Stella); two grandchildren, Lucas and Moira; as well as her sister and brother, Robbie Humphrey and Randy Kunze and their families.

There will be a visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Peter Cartwright United Methodist Church in Pleasant Plains.

There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Holstein, Mo.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Emma Jean Buie be made to either the Peter Cartwright United Methodist Church in Pleasant Plains, Ill., or to the American Cancer Society .
