Elizabeth "Liz" Turnbull

ILLIOPOLIS, IL - Elizabeth "Liz" Turnbull, 88, died on January 26, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Ill. Liz was born January 6, 1926, in Tillamook, Ore., the daughter of Alfred and Ida Marolf. Liz married Donald W. Turnbull on December 21, 1945.

Liz worked for the family business of Turnbull Excavating and Dekalb in Illiopolis. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family. She was a member of the Illiopolis United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Helen Andersen, brother, AI Marolf, and grandson, Brian Turnbull.

Surviving are her sons, Donald P. (wife, Sandra) Turnbull, of Girard, and James W. (wife, Rita) Turnbull, of Illiopolis.; sister-in-law, Geraldine Keleher, of Illiopolis; grandchildren, Elke, Bret, Michelle, Vicki, Mary Ellen, Marcy, and Rex; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the Illiopolis United Methodist Church with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service. Reverend C. W. Reneker will officiate with burial following in Riverside Cemetery, Illiopolis.

Memorials may be made to Illiopolis EMT's or Illiopolis United Methodist Church.
