Doris M (Payton) West, 71, of Springfield, IL passed away at her residence on Thursday May 20, 2021.

Doris was born in Grayson, KY on December 18, 1949 the daughter of Archie and Mamie J. (McDaniel) Payton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carmen Payton.

Doris is survived by her sons, James West of Springfield, Jeff (Marcie) West of Springfield; grandchildren, Taylor West of Springfield, Cpl. Brendon West of Dawson (stationed in Hawaii); 1 sister, Linda Bivin of Dawson; 3 brothers, Robert (Nancy) Payton of KY, Wilber Payton of Buffalo, and Willis (Jan) Payton of Springfield; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Doris held several jobs including being a stay at home mom when she was raising her boys. After, she went to work for Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield as a welder, finally retiring in 2011. She loved bingo, slot machine and jigsaw puzzles. She could spend hours sitting in the shade, watching the hummingbirds in the Spring and Summer. Doris also enjoyed traveling to visit family in Kentucky. She enjoyed the simple life and was a wonderful person to be around.

Cremation services are being accorded and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

The family is being served by Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home of Springfield.
