Donald Lee "Shorty" Lane, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at St John's Hospital.

Shorty was born on January 7, 1935 in Quincy, the son of Leonard William and Dorothy Kathryn (Mock) Lane.  He married Eleanor Davis on November 27, 1957.

Shorty was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked for CMT for 42 years as a land surveyor.  He was a member of the Aqua Club and American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR, playing golf, and mushroom hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor; two daughters, Kelly (Rick) Jackson and Leigh Ann Sickinger; grandchildren, Dulce, Hannah, Casandra, Andurina, Matthew and Lane; four siblings, Pete (Zelma) Lane, Sharon (Donnie) Likes, L.W. (Karan) Lane and Jerry (Bonnie) Lane; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Rochester Christian Church with Reverend Brad Ferris officiating.  Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
