Donald F. Fitzgerald, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his residence.

Don was born on December 12, 1940 in Flora, the son of Harry and Eva Justice Fitzgerald.  He married Audrey E. Gillett on May 1, 1965; she preceded him in death on December 1, 2010.

Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also served in the Illinois National Guard.  He attended the Eastview Baptist Church in Springfield and loved to work on genealogy and in his garden.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, two sisters and one nephew.

He is survived by his son, Curt A. (Jamie) Fitzgerald of Springfield; his daughter, Anita P. Bauswell of Peoria Heights; two grandchildren, Jacklyn and Kaitlyn Fitzgerald; three brothers, Robert, Thomas and John; three sisters, Bonnie, Norma and Harriet; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester with Reverend Bennie Fisher officiating.  Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Moweaqua.
