Don M. Bertetto
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Don M. Bertetto, 72, of Springfield, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 19, 1942, in Wilsonville, Ill., the son of Bert and Wanda Cleeton Bertetto. He married Georgia Sturgeon on Oct. 10, 1964, in Hillsboro, Ill.
Don graduated from Gillespie High School in 1960 before entering the Navy with the submarine service on the USS Medregal. He retired from Phillips Brothers Printing in 1998 with 32 years of service. He was an avid fan of automobiles, NASCAR, football, fishing and motorcycle riding and racing. He was a former member of the Cool Cruisers and Corvette Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and brother, Frank Bertetto.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Bertetto of Springfield; daughter, Lisa (Joel) D'Angelo of Killingworth, Conn.; granddaughter, Grace D'Angelo of Killingworth, Conn.; sister, Carol (Richard) Philippe of Livingston; brother, Larry (Linda) Bertetto of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. There will be an additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015, at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Habing officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St Jude Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children or The Wounded Warrior Project.
