Destini Santana Schafer, 24, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.

Destini was born on February 3, 1992 in Springfield the daughter of Harold Schafer and Christina Brager.

She was a graduate of Petersburg High School and worked as a waitress at Cancun Restaurant.  She enjoyed camping and fishing.

She is survived by spiritual husband, Brandon Thomas of Petersburg; three children, Jacob Coffey, Isabelle Schafer and Noah Thomas; mother, Christina (James) Walker of Hardin, KY; father, Harold Schafer of Hardin, KY; two sisters, Jessica Schafer of Petersburg and Amika Schafer of Chicago; grandparents, John Brager of Springfield and Connie (Bill) Hughes of Springfield; and several, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Chaplain Jan Costello officiating.  Private family burial will be at a later date.
