Dennis Lee Taylor, 72, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dennis was born on May 24, 1953 in Winona, Minnesota, the youngest son of George and Berniece (Luhmann) Taylor. He was a 1971 graduate of Southeast High School in Springfield, Illinois. He worked at AAMCO with his father, then Fiat-Allis, and retired from the United States Postal Service after over 30 years of dedicated service.
Dennis was steadfast in his faith, and he deeply cherished time spent with family and friends. He was a dog lover at heart who always had a treat ready to share with his four-legged friends, and he especially doted over his grand-dogs from the time they were puppies until the moment each of them crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his fresh produce each season. After discovering his passion for pickleball, he often recruited others to the sport by sharing his genuine enthusiasm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, sister Constance Gates, and nephew Kenny Gates Jr.
Dennis is survived by his daughter Amy (Scott) Whitecotton, nephew Bryan (Joelle) Knoles, niece Deanna "Missy" (Mike) Fowler, along with several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
