On Tuesday December 10, 2019 Dennis Dale Hicks, age 75, passed away peacefully at the Ranch (Springfield Homes in Springfield IL). He was born November 2, 1944 to parents Norval and Ruby Hicks (who preceded him in death). He had one brother, Perry Hicks (deceased)

He was a loving and passionate husband, father (Pops and Dad), grandfather, and great grandfather (known as "Pa" to all).

On August 18, 1963 he married his childhood sweetheart Janet Marie Sanders. They were blessed with two wonderful children; daughter, Shelli (Keith) Richardson and a son, Timothy (Kris) Hicks. Six grandchildren, Caitlin (Ross) Richardson, Derek Woolridge, Emily Richardson, Jordan (Corey) Richardson, Brycen Hicks and Haley Hicks. Five great grandchildren, Darcee, Hunter, Summer, Aria and Jett. Our little family grew!

Denny had many accomplishments throughout his life. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Southern IL University Carbondale. Received his CPA Certificate and was employed at the US Treasury Department (IRS) for 30 years. While there, he was a Union Representative, taught training classes and was a revenue agent. He was a wonderful woodworker also.

But for him, his most precious accomplishment was his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

He was always there for them. He loved watching and participating in racing, basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling, and volleyball. He loved traveling with the kids and grandkids on lots of Disney and Branson trips. Finally, he had one more that was precious to him, our 5 year old Yorkie, Sophie.

Cremation services have been accorded.

A visitation will be held on Saturday December 21, 2019 from 11:00am till 1:00pm at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 N. 5th St. Springfield IL 62702.
