Dennis J. Brown, 68, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Dennis was born on August 18, 1947 in Springfield the son of Philip C. and Helen Mathias Brown.  He married Evan "Jean" Dehner on August 2, 1975 at St. Patrick's Church in Lincoln.

He worked as a machinist for J.W. Hobbs Stewart Warner which later changed to Honeywell; he retired after 38 years.  Dennis was revered as one of the better machinists working with metals and plastics.  He was a member and past president of the Abe Lincoln Gun Club, a member of the North American Model Engineering Society of Detroit, MI and many airplane clubs in the area.  He was an instructor at the Hunter Safety Clinic and an Amatuer Hamm Radio operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Philip Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Brown of Springfield; son, Owen (Heather) Brown of Springfield; daughter, Tara (Robert) Jordan of Springfield; sisters, Jan Utterback of Springfield and Karen Landon of KS; grandchildren; Arianna and Austin and one on the way; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating.  Cremation will follow services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
