David Elles Turner

SPRINGFIELD - David Elles Turner, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born on February 22, 1931, in Lincoln, Ill., the son of Harry and Minnie Turner. He married Jayne Miller.

David was part owner of Midwest Truckers for over 40 years, a member of the Shriners for over 25 years and the Masons for over 50 years. He was also a member of the American Legion.

David was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Joshua Schleyhahn.

He is survived by his wife, Jayne; three daughters, Mary Anne (Kevin) Schleyhahn, Dana (Phillips) Spencer, and Lisa (Jeff) Johnson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah (Don) Ford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Farris officiating. Cremation will follow and burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rochester Christian Church.
