David Lee Hafliger

EDINBURG, IL - David Lee Hafliger, 71, of Edinburg, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born May 8, 1943, in Christian County, the son of. Jack and Margaret Trojcak Hafliger. He married JoAnn Wicker in 1963.

David retired as a repairman at Peabody Mine #10 after 40 years. He was an avid fisherman on the Illinois River; loved watching NASCAR and Illini basketball; spending time at his cabin and with his family.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Hafliger; daughter, Cathy (Duane) Peden of Edinburg; son, Mike Hafliger of Kincaid; two sisters, Sue (Joe) Kornack of Edinburg, and Diane (David) Aldridge of Taylorville; one brother Jack (Belinda) Hafliger of Edinburg; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery.
