David William Geist, 65, of Springfield, IL passed away on Saturday October 12, 2024.

David was born in Springfield, IL on June 9, 1959 and was the son of James and Marjorie (Cantrall) Geist.

When he was a young man, David enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes with friends and watching NASCAR and football. David always enjoyed making people laugh while hanging out with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cory Geist; brother, Mike Geist and sister, Mary Brennan.

David is survived by his children, Heather Morris (Nick) of Springfield, Stephanie Miller (David) of Texas, Danielle Geist (Krista Bost) of Texas; five grandchildren; siblings, Matt Geist (Joellen) of Springfield, Tom Geist (Connie) of Springfield, Ray Geist (DeeDee) of Springfield, Anna Geist- Richard (George) of Springfield, and Rick Geist (Sonja) of Springfield; sister-in-law, Deb Geist; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Cremation service will be accorded.

Military Honors and committal will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Guests are asked to arrive no more than 20 minutes before the start of services.

A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the graveside services at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 141 N Lakewood Dr, Chatham, IL 62629.
