Darrell E. Downey, 55 of Springfield, IL passed away on Friday January 3, 2025. Darrell was born in Springfield on May 26, 1969, the son of Daniel and Nancy Downey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Sr. and sister-in-law, Billie Jo.

Darrell is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn Downey of Springfield; grandchildren, Delilah Britton, Iris Mehan, and Violet Mehan; mother, Nancy Downey of Springfield; brother Daniel (Linn) Downey Jr. of Springfield; brother, Darren Downey of Springfield; sister, Nicole (Wayne) Downey-Padget of Springfield; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Darrell was a big Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was funny, kind, and would help anyone who needed a hand. He knew and was loved by many family members and friends. Darrell was especially known for his passion of bowling. He was involved in league play for many years and bowled several 300 games and 800 series. Darrell's love for the sport of bowling also drew many members of his family to it.

Cremation services are being accorded and a private family prayer ceremony is being held.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in the future.
