Daniel W. Smith, 58, of Springfield, IL passed away on October 25, 2024. Danny was born in Springfield on June 21, 1966. He grew up in Rochester, IL but moved to many different places before settling back in Springfield.

Danny worked for the State Journal Register for many years. He enjoyed Rock n' Roll music and helping to manage bands. Danny loved to also be with his friends and family; he was the life of the party. Danny was a collector of anything having to do with wolves, Indians, and "The West". He watched the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys. Danny loved his children and he will be greatly missed by everyone who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, nephew, great nephew, and a brother-in-law.

Danny is survived by his son, Dartanyon Smith; daughter, Tayanita VanDerWal (fiancé, Cameron Smith) of Girard; granddaughter, Teylie Smith; nephew, Mitchell Hilton (Wife, Amanda); and great niece, Wrigley.

A private family viewing is being held and cremation services are being accorded.

A Celebration of Life is being held on Friday November 1, 2024 at Gold Mine Gaming, 730 East Jackson Street, Auburn, IL 62685 at 2:00 pm. There is a room reserved in the back for family and close friends.
