SPRINGFIELD, IL - Cleobelle I. Appel, 95, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Capitol Healthcare.

Cleobelle was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Laprairie, the daughter of Charles and Mayme Owen Koch. She married Eugene Appel on May 4, 1940; he preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1993.

She was a homemaker and a member of Christian Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Josie "Jo" Sexton; one brother; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Robert) Mahone of Florida and Connie (Carl) Barnett of Sparland; one son, Eric (Carla) Appel of Florida; son-in-law, Kenneth Sexton of Springfield; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial will follow at Chillicothe Cemetery in Chillicothe.
