Charles Harold Gill, age 68, passed away on February 13, 2024, after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. He was born on April 3, 1955, son of Thomas N. and Clara W. Gill, in Springfield IL. He married his first wife, Sandra K. Huff, mother of their son, Charles Gill II. He later married Marsha Beard.

Charles (Chuck) was a skilled local Union Carpenter serving for 49 years and 6 months. He was employed for many years by O'Shea Builders. Chuck especially enjoyed golf and traveling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He had a quick wit and certain charm about him and impacted many friends throughout his life.

Chuck is survived by his son, Charles Gill II (companion, Diane Bailey), his grandson Augustus Charles Gill, Stepson Brian (Brenda) Beard, brother Thomas W. Gill (companion Mickey Rockwood), sisters Roberta L. (Boyce) Lee, Barbara (Jerry) Moore, and Karen Zahn. Also surviving are sister-in-law Debbie Gill, niece Michelle (Sean) Davidson, and their daughters Lauren and Haley, and niece Kirstie (Aaron) Bennett, and his long-time loving companion Vicky Karrick.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents, both his wives, and brother Norman E. Gill.

Charles Gill and his family are being served by Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home of Springfield, IL.  Cremation services are being accorded.

With respect to his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at Goodfellas Pub, 518 Bruns Ln, Springfield, IL 62702 on March 9th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
