Charles Richard Ayers, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Elevate Care in Chicago. He was born in Springfield on March 20, 1948, the son of Charles and Della (Lawson) Ayers.

He enjoyed playing pool, cards, board and online gaming, and loved listening to music, attending concerts, and dining out.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy Tinsley; brother, Michael (Nina) Ayers; nieces and nephews, Amy and Bill Tinsley, and Christopher, Angie, Steven and Emerald Ayers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, from 10:00-11:00AM and then graveside services will be held at Noon at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct Military Honors.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St, in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
