She was born May 15, 1935, in Marissa, the daughter of Alfred J. Harris and Lulu A. Derrickson. She married Raymond J. “Jack” Downey on May 14, 1954, in Mississippi, and they shared 55 blessed years together.
After graduating from Lanphier High School, she devoted herself to building a loving home and raising her family. She was a member and founder of the Church of St. Jude in Rochester, where she served on the parish council, hospitality ministry, and Martha’s Group.

Whether lost in a good book, finding the best sales while shopping, or indulging in something sweet, nothing brought her greater joy than the moments spent with family and friends. Her ever-present warmth, wisdom, and candid honesty will be deeply missed.
A private memorial service is being held at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester, with Very Reverend Brian C. Alford officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rochester Cemetery.
