Carol Janiece (Matthews) Koyne, 76, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 at her home. Carol was born in Springfield, IL. on February 3, 1949, the daughter of Herbert Paul and Sarah Eileen (Marvin) Matthews. Carol was an active member of AFSCME Union 31. Carol was a 4 time cancer survivor and active in the cancer awareness community. She competed in numerous Race for the Cure events and was very creative with her sewing, crocheting and craft making. She also enjoyed nature photography.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, and her ex-husband Jerry Koyne.

She is survived by 3 children, 5 siblings, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and multiple "adopted" children and grandchildren, as well as 6 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial donations may be made to Wigs for Kids.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
