Carol Dianne (Neely) Garrett of Rochester, IL, left this world on Friday, January 12, 2024, in Springfield, Illinois.  She was born on March 20, 1935 in Springfield, the daughter of Thomas Neely and Roberta (Burns) Neely.  She married Robert D. (Bob) Garrett on July 31, 1953 at Stuart Street Christian Church in Springfield, IL.

Carol lived most of her life in Dawson, IL and Rochester, IL  She graduated from Rochester High School with the class of 53', where she was active in sports, cheerleading and band.  She attended Browns Business Collage for a time and worked for many years for the State of Illinois.  Prior to her retirement she was employed with the House Democratic staff.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Bob, father Thomas Neely, her mother and stepfather Roberta and F.J. (Buck) Trout and her son Curt D Garrett.

Survivors include her son, Craig (Julia) Garrett of Springfield, daughters, Cathie (Randy) Romines of Mechanicsburg and Cristy (Randy) Donaldson of Springfield.  Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, step-daughter Mary Ann McMillian of California and daughter-in-law Chris Garrett of Mechanicsburg.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her dear friend of 50 years, Cindy and her caregiver for the past several years, Tina.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11:00AM.   In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting any donations be directed to the American Kidney Foundation, 180 N Wabash Ave #320, Chicago, IL 60601.
