Brenda Kay Tunnell, 66, of Havana, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Havana Health Care Center.

Brenda was born on May 26, 1950 in Springfield the daughter of Franklin "Dale" and Margaret Lucille Phillips Ater.  She married Walter Tunnell; he preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing Bingo, Yahtzee and doing puzzles.  She loved spending time with children, especially babies.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Dale Ater.

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Phillips of Springfield; two sisters, Rose (Dennis) DeMoss and Linda (companion, Mark) Kinzer both of Springfield; four brothers, Tom Ater of KY, Ken Ater of Springfield, Bill (Faye) Ater of Butler, OK and Eddie Ater of Jacksonville; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Cremation will be accorded and services will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital for cancer research.
