Bobby F. Hamlin, 88, of Springfield, IL passed away on Monday May 17, 2021.
He was born in Mt. Vernon, IL on November 9, 1932 the son of William and Mae Hamlin.
Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army having entered into service in 1953.
He would later go on to start a family with his wife Maria Vidales Hamlin. In 1973, Bobby opened and operated Hamlin's Auto Sales on the corner of 23rd and Cook St. in Springfield. The business would eventually be moved to the corner of Clearlake Ave and Dirksen Pkwy. Bobby retired many years later. He was also a member of the Shriners Society and greatly enjoyed driving the cars in the parades.
Bobby and Maria were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springfield for many years.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Hamlin of Riverton, David (Barbara) Hamlin of Springfield, and Bobby (companion, Marty) of Springfield, 10 Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Hamlin; son, Johnny Hamlin; parents; and his brothers, Bill, Melvin and Leo Hamlin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 25, 2021 at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 North 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Bobby will receive military honors
