Billie Ray Woods, aged 69, passed away on September 19, 2024, in Springfield, Illinois. Born on December 24, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Billie lived a life marked by hard work, a passion for the outdoors and a deep commitment to his family and community.

A man of many interests and talents, Billie was known for his caring nature and his knack for fixing things, a skill that often found him helping out neighbors and friends. He took great pride in his lawn, spending hours nurturing his plants and trees, creating a welcoming green space for all to enjoy. Billie's career was characterized by his relentless work ethic. He was always busy, dedicating himself completely too every task he undertook. His free time was filled with simple pleasures; he enjoyed long walks, listening to blues music, and engaging in games of dominos and cards with family and friends. These moments of joy were cherished by all those that knew him.

Billie is survived by his brother, Johnny Woods; his sons, Antwan Woods of Springfield, IL and Shawn Woods of Los Angeles, CA; and his daughters, LaToya Woods, Felicia Wilson, and Precious Boyd all of Springfield, IL. His life was further enriched by his 17 Grandchildren and a large extended family of Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, uncles, and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Della Mae Kimble; father, Thelton Woods; brothers, Bobby Pierce, Thelton Woods Jr., John Willie Kimble, James Clifton Woods, Lawrence Woods, Moses Woods, Odis Lee Woods; sisters, Delores Avery, Patricia Richardson, Geraldine Pierce, and daughter, Doesha Eskew.

Billie's Legacy is one of love, hard work, and community service. He leaves behind memories that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Cremation services are being accorded and a Celebration of Life is being held in the future.

Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
