SPRINGFIELD - Betty J. Young, 74, a life-long resident of Springfield, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center.

Betty was born on September 23, 1941, in Springfield, the daughter of Virgil and Freda (Kamees) Goff, Sr. She married Ralph Young on December 1, 1956.

She was a homemaker and had been a babysitter for 35 years. She was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church where she was very active.

She volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother and with Nursing Home Ministries. She also conducted a home Vacation Bible School.

She enjoyed playing her tambourine, reading her Bible, crocheting, baking, crafting and singing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Spencer Goff and Virgil Goff, Jr.

She is survived by the love of her life, Ralph Young of Springfield; five children, Travis (Veronika) Young of Springfield, Steve (Brenda) Young of Pleasant Plains, Mark (Lisa) Young of Springfield, Terri (Lee) Swaggerty of Springfield, and Barbie (Joe) Armstrong of Springfield; two sisters, Jolene McCarty of Springfield and Wanda Overby of Springfield; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom were her pride and joy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015, at the funeral home with Reverend Michael Tozer officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
