Obituary

Betty Faye (Nolan) Rook, 84, of Springfield, IL passed away at Memorial Medical Center on December 28, 2020.

Betty was born at home in Green County, IL on November 20, 1936 the daughter of Lawrence L. and Loretta M. (Prather) Nolan.

She married her husband, Elvy Rook on July 3rd, 1954. They had 7 children and started a very large family together. Betty enjoyed going fishing, crocheting and having family picnics. She also loved having family over every weekend and cooking for everyone; she was a fantastic cook.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and 1 brother, Gordon Nolan and 1 sister Marilyn Leary.

She is survived by her children, Loretta (Randy) Altom of Springfield, IL, Cathy (Gary) Buchanan of Jacksonville, IL, Richard (Sherry) Rook of San Mateo, CA, Becky (Miguel) Castañeda of Springfield, IL, Caren (Dave) Cosby of Glen Ellyn, IL, Patti (Glenn) Stevens of Carol Stream, IL, and William (Vicki) Rook of Lisle, IL; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Merle (Barb) Nolan and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 North 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702 on Sunday January 3rd, 2021. Public visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. till the time of the private family funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Hanson will be presiding.

Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.

The funeral home will be observing all C.D.C. and State Mandated Guidelines due to COVID-19 and all visitors to the funeral home are required to wear facemasks when entering the building.
