Barbora Lucelle "Barb" Richards, 84, of Edinburg, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Centennial Pointe Senior Living in Springfield, IL. Barb was born in Rochester, IL., on June 30, 1938, the daughter of Chesley H. and Georgia L. (Popp) Hobbs. She married Edward Eugene "Bud" Richards on August 19, 1956, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2000. Barb worked for Edinburg School District for over 30 years as secretary, bookkeeper and school board treasurer. She enjoyed camping, fishing, NASCAR racing, and was an avid collector of Aladdin lanterns and cameo jewelry. She loved cooking and always made more than enough food for everyone. She was very artistic, enjoyed making floral arrangements, and was great at free hand calligraphy. Barb was a member of the Red Hat Society and was the "best momma ever".
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Bud" Richards; her parents; and three brothers, Kenneth, Archie and Walter Hobbs.
Barb is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Willie) Christmon, and Dixie (Troy) Fisher; one grandson, Devin Edward Christmon; two brothers, James Richard Hobbs and Everett "Jake" (Steve Chestnut) Hobbs; one sister, Sandra (Kevin) Moffett; and a large extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. in Rochester, from 5:00-7:00PM. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the funeral home from 11:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00PM with Reverend Scott Parks officiating. Burial will follow at the Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, IL.
