SPRINGFIELD, IL - Barbara Stickel, 90, of Springfield, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at her daughter's residence.

Barbara was born March 6, 1925, in Chambersburg, the daughter of G. Wade and Hazel Ham Elledge. She married Alfred G. Stickel on March 15, 1947, in Springfield; he preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1972.

During her long life she worked for the Sugar Bowl, Franklin Life, Department of Agriculture, Department of Rehabilitation, and ended her career as the secretary for Harvard Park Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Stickel; one daughter, JoAnn Stickel; one sister, Phyllis Power; and five grandchildren.

She is survived by eight children: Roger (Anglee) Stickel of Springfield, David (Janet) Stickel of Alpine, Wyo., Robert (Patricia) Stickel of Belleview, Fla., Ruth Ann (Michael) Ayers of Springfield, Edgar (Martha Kay) Stickel of Springfield, Caroline Stickel of Rockford, Patricia Ealey of Springfield and Shirley Stickel of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Richard and Judy Evans of Rockford.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
