Barbara Jean Reid, 85, of Rochester, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at St. John's Hospital.

Barb was born on November 26, 1930 in Springfield the daughter of Ferris Armour and Esther Amalia Dise Reid.

She graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in 1952 and went on to work at St. John's Hospital as a RN in the pediatric department until 1987.  From 1989 to 2010 Barb worked as an RN in the Health Office at St. Francis Convent.  Barb was an Associate of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis since 1990. She was active with the St. John's Hospital Retirees, Rochester Public Library, Life Long Learning of Lincoln Land Community College and a member of St. Jude's Parish in Rochester. Barb was known for her love and knowledge of horses which she shared with many persons.  She especially enjoyed watching the deer and wild turkeys feed off her land.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Doris Bodie.

She is survived by one brother, Ferris Reid of LaSalle; two nephews, David Edward Reid and Brad Alan Reid; and lots of friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Rochester with Reverend Brian Alford officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
