Barbara A. Prater, 89, of Edinburg, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at her home.

She was born on October 9, 1931, in Taylorville, the daughter of Claude and Julia (Hawkins) Beaty. She married Thomas Prater on April 1, 1951, and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1981.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Kent and Van Prater; three brothers, Rodell, George and Donald Beaty; two sisters, Linda Lippincott and Betty Jones.

She is survived by her brother; Larry (Diana) Beaty; two sisters, Sue Thomas and Anna Lou Alexander; three grandchildren, Ben & Annie Prater and Kaitlin Wilcox; four great-grandchildren, Sage Prater and James, Lawrence and Thomas Wilcox, and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held and burial will be at Edinburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, in Rochester, is in charge of arrangements.
