Anton R. "Butch" Butchek, 79, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Butch was born on January 10, 1943, in Springfield, the son of Anton and Ann (Powers) Butchek.

He married Judith Ann Skeeters on June 29, 1963, and she preceded him in death in 2020. Butch worked for the city of Springfield as a traffic engineer. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, grilling, working outdoors and was a diehard Cubs fan. Butch also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Wiggles, and loved his Husky, Yukon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Judith, daughter, Amy Yaris; son, Bobby Joe; brother, Mike (Ethel) Butchek; sisters Pat (Bill) Hood, and Kay (Bill) James.

Butch is preceded by his daughter, Connie Leach; grandson, Robby Leach; son in law, Steve Yaris; and brother in law, James A. Skeeters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Ellinger- Kunz & Park Funeral Home, 530 N. Fifth Street, from 9:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:30AM with Pastor Clint Cook officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.
