Alice Mae Leach
ROCHESTER, IL - Alice Mae Leach, 93, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Mae was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles Henry and Bertha (Trow) Stroud Sr. She married Ralph LaRue Leach on Aug. 30, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded her in death in 1998. She was a member of the Rochester United Methodist Church, and member of Past Worthy Matron of the Sangamon Chapter 746 O.E.S. She retired as an administrative assistant from the Rochester School District 3A after 26 years. Mae was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing with many age groups.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles H. Strode on Dec. 13, 1980.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven (Nancy) Leach and Gary (Connie) Leach, both of Springfield; daughter, Jo Lynn (Richard) Rose of Dowington, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 19 from 4-7 p.m. at the Rochester United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the church, Rev. Kathy Sweet officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Rochester United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice .
