CHATHAM, IL - Alice Mae DeFrates Taylor, 93, of Chatham, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at St. John's Hospice.
Alice was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Springfield, Ill., the daughter of Everett DeFrates and Juliet DeFrates Engelbretsen. She married Raymond Taylor on Oct. 11, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.; he preceded her in death on March 25, 2010.
She worked for Fannie May Candies and B Z Bakery. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where she was also involved with the Women's Association, Fellowship Committee, and was responsible for the Crismon Tree. She was also very involved with the Girl Scouts community.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Raymond DeFrates.
She is survived by daughter, Judith (Earl) Moreland of Springfield; three grandchildren: Glen Allen (Rachelle) Moreland, Tamara Hartman, and Raymond E. (Andrea) Moreland; six great-grandchildren: Brittany, David, Cody, Kayleigh, Reid, and Taylor Rae; one sister, June (George) Moss; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private family services will be held.
