Thelma "Pat" Egan Obituary

Thelma “Pat” Egan, 101, of Springfield IL, passed away on Friday, September 20th, 2019 at The Villa Nursing home in Sherman, IL.

Thelma was born in Paige County Nebraska, on Feb 28, 1918, the daughter of Sherman and Iola Bergstrom. She grew up on a farm with five brothers before marrying Francis Egan of Springfield, IL in 1940.

Thelma and Franny raised two daughters, Patricia Dobson of Riverton, IL and Darlene Young of Springfield, Ky.

In her younger years, Thelma was a waitress at Maldaner’s Restaurant and owned Egan’s Tavern with her husband.

Thelma was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

She lived the fullest life of anyone you can ever imagine in her short 101 years. Her motto was to work hard and play hard and drink a little and dance a lot!

She was a great cook and loved to cook! She taught us good food is important...and fried chicken is good! Oh, and always save room for dessert!

She taught us life isn't always easy but there are a lot of nice people. Be grateful for what you have and it doesn't really help to complain...always be appreciative and say sorry when you're not.

She was funny and witty and her old-time stories never got old.

She taught us you didn’t always have to say I love you but showing it was important. She showed it!

She was a lover of animals, dancing, sewing, bingo, cooking shows, the Price is Right and Santa.

She leaves behind her two daughters and grandchildren too numerous to mention…because when you are 101, you are “Granny” to everyone!
