Lorna Leigh Powell, 59 of Springfield passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at her residence.

She was born on August 9, 1958 in Springfield, the daughter of Norman and Mary (Ricker) Powell.

Lorna was deeply loved by her family and friends for her generous nature and gentle heart.  She was passionate about animals in need and donated her time and money to caring for many stray cats.

Lorna was the Director of IT at Tom Lange Company in Springfield, Illinois.  She considered her co-workers her second family.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Lorna is survived by her five sisters, Rita Ann Coffey, Brenda Jean Hoffman, Linda Irene Powell, Twila Marie Jarvis, and Tracy Lynn Powell; two nephews, William Lloyd, and Robert Joseph Coffey; a niece, Melissa Noelle Daniels; and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 5:30 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Pastor Tom Eggley will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Forever Home Feline Ranch.
