Doris Jean Galligan Garrison, 94, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at her residence.

Doris was born on May 3, 1923 in Springfield the daughter of Frances B. Galligan and Lena Martin Galligan.  She married William E. Garrison on May 10, 1941 in Hannibal, MO; he preceded her in death in June 1993.

Doris attended Blessed Sacrament grade school.  She was the business administrator for Garrison Candy Company.  She ran an in home daycare and later was head housekeeper for various hotels.  She was the Matriarch of the family and the world’s best grandmother.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marilyn Bradford; and brother, Warren B. Galligan.

She is survived by son, William (Kathy) Garrison of Springfield; daughter, Judy (Dennis) Coy of Springfield; grandchildren, Edward W. Garrison of Springfield, Thomas J. (Christine) Weiss of Sherman, Sherrie (Dane) Cookson of Springfield; Denise (Glen) Tipps of Springfield, Shawn M. Garrison of Springfield, Jeffrey M. (Karee) Prince of Rochester, William W. (Paula) Garrison Jr. of Buffalo and Susan L. (Leo) Davis of South Pekin; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Ellen Buhrman of Wilmington, DE; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Galligan of Springfield and Marnie Garrison of Glenarm; one brother-in-law, Arthur Stofko of Buffalo, NY ;and several great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
