Obituary
Sandra Lee King, 87, of Springfield, IL passed away on Wednesday January 18, 2023 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
Sandy was born in Springfield on November 21, 1935 and was the daughter of Michael and Wilma (Sommers) Yaris. She married Richard “Mickey” King and he preceded her in death in 2016.
She graduated from Springfield High School and went to work eventually for her husband Mickey. The two of them made a good team. He was a contractor and a woodworker and she did the books and pretty much anything else Mickey needed her to do. Sandy was also an avid gardener and was a member of Garden Club. She was also the President for a time of YWCA and a member of Elliot Avenue Church in Springfield. Sandy enjoyed playing card with friends, making peanut brittle, caramels, and the best coconut cream pie you would have ever eaten.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Rick) Pinneo; daughter, Jeanette (Sean) McCartney; son, Brad King; grandchildren, Alli, Andrew, Austin, Adam, and Amanda; great grandchildren, Ellory and Dane; and sister in law, Patty.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Gary.
Cremation services are being accorded through Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
