Robert W. Taft, 77, of Rochester, died on Tuesday, February 25, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Bob was born on December 30, 1942, in Rochester, the son of Howard and Irene (Davis) Taft.
Bob grew up in Rochester and attended Rochester schools before joining the United States Army and serving in Vietnam. He graduated from Springfield Barber College and was a registered professional barber in the 1960’s as well as a farmer in the Rochester area for nearly all of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin “Butch”, and Melvin Taft.
He is survived by a sister, Sharon (Skip) Grigsby; and a brother, Morris (Barb) Taft and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:30 with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail performing military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Department of Veteran's Affairs, Rochester VFW Post, or to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy.
