Donald Eugene Loyd, 91, of Springfield Illinois, died at 7:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Christian Village nursing home in Lincoln, Illinois He was born February 19, 1928 in Keenes located in Wayne County Illinois, to Ray and Noma Dulany Loyd. He married Margaret Grace Ferguson on January 3, 1953 and she survives.
Also surviving are seven children, David (Linda) Loyd of Illiopolis, Linda (John) Morris of Georgetown, Debra Loyd, Anita (Wayne) Marquis, Danny (Kim) Loyd, Carolyn (Dave) Messmore and Marilyn (Dave) McCubbin all of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers Walt of Springfield and Earl (Carol) of New Berlin, two sisters, Dorothy Ferguson of Latham and Alice Gardiner of Normal; two sister-in-laws La Vern Loyd of Williamsville and Marla Loyd of Springfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Samuel Loyd and two brothers Harry and Ray “Junior” Loyd.
Don was a Christian man who loved and raised his children wanting them to know the love and promises of Jesus and the hope that he professed in Christ, he now claims those promises. He attended Westside Baptist church until it moved to the outskirts of Dawson where it became South Tower Community Church.
As per Donald’s request, there will be a graveside service at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 10, 2019.
Ellinger-Kunz & Park is assisting in arrangements of burial with Pastor Charlie Carver officiating .
Kumler Methodist Church at 5 th and Carpenter will provide lunch after service.
