Vivian transferred to our high school, and I got to know her both there and at church, where we attended the same Sunday School class and Youth Group. We were quite close in the early years, but drifted apart as our individual academic tracks veered away and thus rarely if ever had class together. Even our social lives went different directions. I do remember in our Senior year, though, I wanted to try out for the new pom pom team for the band and tryouts involved learning a routine known well by the cheerleaders. Viv, a cheerleader, came to Youth Group early to practice the routine with me and help me with the parts I didn't have down pat. I was always so grateful for that.

Viv and I were next-door neighbors in high school and walked home together often. She was a friendly, likable, well-mannered girl, and a good conversationalist. She took ballet lessons regularly in Springfield, and that gracefulness showed up in her everyday life. The times we dressed side-by-side in the locker room after high-school PE class, I always noticed her perfect balance and graceful, ballet-like posture as she stood first on one foot, then the other, knees bent, toes pointed, pulling on her socks or stockings. Freshman year in college, before our courseloads got so time-consuming, we corresponded, and her letters were light-hearted and delighted with life. In winter, she reported with hilarity that one of her priest-professors took off his shoes to show the class he was wearing toe socks! I remember Viv with affection. I am praying for her as she returns to our Creator, and asking for his comfort to her family. With deepest sympathy.

To Vivian's family,
My sincere condolences. We were good friends in High School, but sadly lost touch through the years. She was a great debate partner and we had lots of fun together on our overnight trips. We had lots of good talks . I liked Vivian a lot. But was always jealous she had perfect splits at cheer tryouts! 😊 She's been on my heart this week. You are all in my prayers.

Bill, Nathan & Family,

So very sorry to read of Vivian's passing. She was such a kind, sweet lady. Vivian had a way of seeing the good in spirited children. She was always so good to both of our sons, Zach and Matt. I enjoyed catching up with her when I would see her at the mall. She was so very proud of her family and your accomplishments. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. ...
