Forrest W. "Mike" Sexton, age 89, a resident of Wheaton and formerly of Dawson and Rochester, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 24, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born May 28, 1928 on a farm near Andrew, IL to Homer C. and Eva Marie Sexton.

Mike graduated from Tri-City High School in Buffalo, IL in 1946. He worked at Sangamo Electric in Springfield for 31 years. He served in the US Navy from 1947 until 1950. On July 5, 1952 he married Melva Jo Rentschler. After the closure of Sangamo Electric he worked for Bunn Capitol in Springfield, retiring as general manager of the warehouse in 1990. In 1995 he moved to Wheaton where he was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. 

He was an avid gardener, loved farming and animals and enjoyed woodworking. Most of all he loved to spoil his granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Melva Jo, one son, Michael (Beth) Sexton, one granddaughter, Katherine Sexton (Matthew) Rupert, one brother, Charles (Dorothy) Sexton and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lorraine Sexton and Jean Colin and one brother, Homer C. Sexton Jr.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton.

A visitation will also be held on Friday, September 29, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Park Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Rochester, IL, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
